Joanne is a Senior Associate in our Banking and Finance group based in our Hong Kong office.
She has experience in a broad range of cross-border financing transactions, including acquisition loans, real estate finance, leverage and secured finance, bilateral and syndicated lending, for Hong Kong, PRC and international clients. She also regularly advises major financial institutions on enquiries relating to general lending and regulatory compliance.
Joanne spent periods of secondments in the Commercial Banking division of HSBC’s Legal Department and at DWS, an asset management company previously operating under Deutsche Bank, where she advised the sustainable projects team on PRC project acquisitions. She trained with Eversheds Sutherland in the (i) Banking & Finance, (ii) M&A/Private Equity and (iii) Structured Finance, Debt Capital Markets & Restructuring teams, where she gained wide exposure to various transactional matters.

Her recent experience includes advising multinational banks on:
- a syndicated lending to a major PRC film production and distribution company, including credit support and share and asset securities across more than 20 obligors in five jurisdictions;
- a bilateral lending to a PRC leading online retailer involving cross-border elements in relation to the PRC onshore loan and PRC mortgaged property; and
- the template facility documentation and standard terms and conditions in respect of the HKMA’s Pre-approved Principal Payment Holiday Scheme for corporate customers and the SME Financing Guarantee Scheme
Joanne holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Business Administration (Law) of the University of Hong Kong, where she also obtained her Postgraduate Certificate in Laws. During her undergraduate studies, she spent half year at King’s College London as an exchange student.
