BDO calls on Eversheds Sutherland to help secure future of outdoor equipment brand, AlpkitJanuary 29, 2026 Eversheds Sutherland has advised accountancy and business advisory organisation, BDO LLP, on the successful sale of Nottinghamshire-based outdoor clothing and equipment supplier, Alpkit. The transaction, which comprised a financial restructuring through a pre-pack administration, has secured new investment for the business, transferring it into new ownership and preserving all 194 jobs across Alpkit’s retail, warehouse, manufacturing and head office operations.
The Eversheds Sutherland team was led by Partner Mark Wood, assisted by Meghan Bryson, Meg Magee, Ian Gill, Mark Hammerton and Catherine Liley. The global law firm advised on all key elements of the deal including the sale of the business sale and assets.
All stores and online channels continue to trade as normal, customer orders are being fulfilled, and the company’s lifetime product guarantee remains in place.
The restructuring follows a period of significant financial pressure for the business, driven by cost inflation, weaker consumer demand, post‑pandemic loan repayments and ongoing international trade barriers.
As part of the process, a new investor, Jeroen van den Berge, has been appointed and will join the board as Non-Executive Chair.
Alpkit’s existing management team, led by Chief Executive David Hanney, will remain in place.
Mark Wood, Partner, Eversheds Sutherland, said:
“We’re pleased to have supported BDO and the wider advisory group in executing this transaction, helping to secure a number of jobs as well as a positive new era for Alpkit. We wish the management team and the new investor ownership every success for the future.”
Mark Thornton , Partner, BDO LLP, said:
“This was a complex and fast‑moving process, and we were very pleased to have Eversheds Sutherland working alongside us once again. Mark and his team brought real commercial nous, clarity and unwavering commitment throughout. Their technical excellence and ability to keep progress moving made a genuine difference in getting this over the line. It was a terrific team effort and one that has helped safeguard a number of jobs and a much‑loved and important brand.” Key contacts
