WirtschaftsWoche names Eversheds Sutherland as top legal practice for copyright law – Tobias Maier and Axel Zimmermann among the outstanding lawyersOctober 16, 2020 The German business magazine WirtschaftsWoche has recognised Eversheds Sutherland as top legal practice 2020 for copyright law. With Tobias Maier and Axel Zimmermann, two partners of the legal practice are included in the ranking of particularly recommended lawyers. Tobias Maier is a specialist lawyer in the fields of technology transfer and licensing who advises clients around the globe. In addition to advising technology-oriented companies, including global players, mid-sized companies and start-ups, he has particular know-how in the health sector co-heading the global Health & Life Sciences Group. He focusses on providing advice on the development, protection, exploitation and enforcement of intellectual property rights as well as on IP transactions and the drafting of digital business models. Axel Zimmermann focusses on media and sports law. He advises media and technology companies as well as sports organisations on all legal matters in connection with the development and exploitation of audio-visual products including related contracts, such as merchandising, licensing and sponsoring. In addition, he specialises in trademark and competition law and represents clients in arbitration and courts proceedings. For the ranking in copyright and patent law, Handelsblatt Research Institute (HRI) interviewed over 1460 lawyers of 183 law firms. An expert jury of representatives from Bosch, RWE and C.H. Beck then selected 24 law firms with 27 particularly recommended lawyers for copyright law from this list. More lawyers of Eversheds Sutherland are included in this year's rankings published by WirtschaftsWoche: Christian Hilpert (Berlin) repeatedly counts among Germany's most renowned restructuring lawyers and Anne Deike Riewe (Munich) has been listed for insolvency law for the first time. Joos Hellert (Munich) counts among the best lawyers for compliance and David Rieks (Hamburg) is particularly recommended for commercial criminal law. Alexander Niethammer (Munich) again received an award for data protection and Lutz Schreiber (Hamburg) has been listed for IT law. Marco Ferme (Munich) counts among the top lawyers for employment and labour law, Martin Bechtold (Munich/Brussels) for anti-trust law. Latest Insights
